Quick Facts

As the most prestigious postdoctoral award in Canada, the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships Program provides the opportunity to bring top talent to join the research community at UBC. Fellowships are awarded to the very best postdoctoral researchers, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to Canada's economic, social and research-based growth.

Annual Value: $70,000 CAD per year for two years

Award Status: Active; awaiting formal launch of 2012-13 competition in early August 2012

Banting Deadline: Thursday, November 1, 2012

Eligibility: Please carefully review the Eligibility Criteria

Citizenship: Canadian Citizen; Permanent Resident; Foreign Citizen

Degree Level: PhD, PhD equivalent, or Health Professional Degree

Applicant Status: Incoming Students; Continuing Students

UBC Internal Application & Selection Process

A mandatory UBC internal selection process will identify the strongest applications and select a maximum of six per Tri-Council area (CIHR, NSERC & SSHRC) to receive the necessary institutional endorsement.

INTERNAL APPLICATION FORM *UPDATED ON AUGUST 16, 2012

UBC Applicants must submit the internal application form and attachments (details listed in application form) in Word or PDF format. Documentation is to be submitted to SPARC at sparc.ir@ubc.ca by Monday, September 10, 2012, 12:00 PM PST (noon) - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Important: Attached documents must have a minimum 2 cm (3/4 inch) margin around the page (top, bottom, and sides) and be formatted in maximum 12 pt. Times New Roman font. APPLICATIONS FAILING TO FOLLOW FORMATTING GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND ADDITIONAL PAGES WILL NOT BE ADJUDICATED.

Selected UBC Applicants will be contacted by Wednesday, October 3, 2012 and will be provided with feedback from the relevant internal selection committee, in conjunction with strategic support from the SPARC Office to develop and finalize the four required institutional documents, in order to submit a powerful and compelling full application.
