1. Streamlined Internal Review (IR)

For researchers interested in utilizing Internal Review (IR) for their March 23, 2012 MSFHR Career Investigator Program – Scholar Award applications, SPARC is currently accepting registrations.

SPARC IR Registration Deadline:  Monday, February 20

To register for IR, email the following details to christy.mctait@ubc.ca by February 20:

  1. Title of your MSHFR application
  2. Brief description of your proposed project (minimum 1-2 paragraphs)
  3. Your MSFHR Application Theme:  Biomedical Research, Clinical Research, Health Services Research or Population Health Research (refer to MSFHR Scholar Award Instructions for definitions)
  4. Any Faculty reviewer requests, plus any Faculty who you would prefer NOT to review your grant

SPARC IR Submission Deadline:  Monday, February 27, 3pm

IR will be available to those who can provide the following MSFHR documents by February 27, 3pm:

  1. Scientific Summary (1 full page)
  2. Career Expectations
  3. Response to Previous Reviews (for resubmissions only)
  4. Program of Research (10 full pages)
  5. Department Head letter
  6. Dean letter

SPARC IR Reviewer Deadline:  Thursday, March 8

IR feedback will be returned to the applicant 1 ½ weeks later, by March 8.

In view of the short timeline and overlap with other major funding competitions, any researchers failing to register and/or submit all of the required IR documents by the outlined deadlines will be ineligible for IR; and registering for IR does not guarantee an appropriate reviewer will be found for every MSFHR application.

Faculty of Medicine (FoM) Researchers:

FoM has waived the mandatory requirement for the 2012 competition.  Therefore, FoM Grant Development (GD) and SPARC IR are optional.  If interested in GD, please see below.

CFRI only

Contact the Research & Technology Development Office as soon as possible to discuss proposal development/review.
